Economic reforms that began in 1992-93 had a far reaching ripple effect in India.
Liberalization saw Indian companies waking up to the need for efficient production, lowering of costs and quality control to stay competitive. Those who changed grew rapidly, those stuck in the old way of doing business went down under. International linkages of enterprises in India increased manifold with both imports and exports rising exponentially as the Indian economy began integrating with the global economy.
Enterprise Automation became a necessity, rather than a feel-good requirement. Beginning from accounting software, people moved on to inventory, purchase and sales controls via software. MRPII slowly found its place in larger enterprise.
While larger MNCs werethe first ones to move into Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)software, large domestic companies too began adopting ERPs like Oracle Apps, SAP, Baan, etc.
Trickle down to SME segment began somewhere around 1996-97 with the entry of middle-tier international ERPs from companies like Microsoft and with ERPs designed and developed in India. Thus, began the movement of ERP from large enterprise to larger industry base with Middle and Small segment getting hooked onto it.
Eastern Software Solutions (ESS) was one of the earliest software companies that went into development of ERP as a product in a sense that product development is understood. Makess ERP that was later upgraded into ebizframe was the first to offer a low cost ERP System to the Small & Medium (SME) industry. Focus on the SME segment was by design.
The underlying philosophy behind this focus was – Why shouldn’t SME companies enjoy the benefit of enterprise automation and integration? If they have to grow and go global, they too need efficiencies and cost controls. An Indian ERP with international quality standards at Indian prices caught the imagination of Indian companies and ebizframe became one of the top ERP in India.
Impact of ERP was enormous on the way Indian companies did business. Reduction in the cycle time of business processes from enquiry to delivery, reduction in the inventory carrying costs, better cash flows, more efficient production, better QC resulting in lower rejections and higher savings – such benefits helped Indian companies compete globally.
Question was no more ‘Why ERP?’ but ‘When’?
Better internet connectivity saw ERPs moving onto the Net and running on multiple locations without heavy investments in VPN and infrastructure. These developments made it possible for SMEs to reap the benefit of ERP even better.
Next step was the integration with ERPs of large enterprises, thus fuelling the efficiencies of industries even further. Order to despatch of OEMs became even shorter with integration with principals’ ERP systems.
ESS (ERP Software in India) has found that an ERP-using enterprise can get Return on Investment (ROI) within 2-3 years from ebizframe because of its low cost of ownership and the savings that accrue from its usage. Any good ERP implementation is able to generate such savings. But, while larger ERPs take more time to recover heavy investment, ebizframe, because of its smaller investment footprint, is able to get ROI much faster.
New technologies are offering more flexible and dynamic ERPs. ebizframe from ESS is an ERP India that is pro-active and helps you decide your course of action, rather than being reactive that just helps you do understand what went right or wrong mostly after an act has been done.
ebizframe provides internal and external integration with third party software and equipments. Its light weight cloud based technology gives it universal appeal as it can run on virtually any system, be it Android, iOS or Windows. It can work on Tabs, Laptops, Desktops and even Smartphones. Its graphical interface offers users easier ways of understanding complex business data.
Flexible configurability has made the implementation of ebizframe ERP surprisingly faster, thus, the time taken from lab to field has reduced dramatically, making its adaptability much easier for the enterprise.
It is but natural that we will hardly find an enterprise without an ERP in the coming days as more and more companies reap its benefits.
